SUSPECT APPREHENSION PURSUIT

On April 18, 2014 Waterloo Regional Police attempted to stop a red mini-van on King St East in the City of Kitchener for suspected impaired driving. The van was being driven erratically and at one point reversed towards the officer’s vehicle attempting to stop it. No contact was made with the cruiser. A second offficer joined to attempt to stop the vehicle and was side-swiped by the van, causing damage to the cruiser. Eventually the suspect vehicle tires were deflated using a tire deflation device and it finally came to a stop on Bleams Rd near Strasburg Rd. A 31 year old male driver of Kitchener was arrested and charged with dangerous driving and fail to stop for police. No one was injured in this incident and one cruiser sustained damage to the driver and passenger doors.
