Super School Crisis – Conspiracies and Crisis OH MY!

It is with great amusement that I read Mr Vodden’s unsubstantiated and inflammatory report from “unnamed sources” regarding the school.

Was it only just over a year ago now that Vodden, Retch, Vincent and others were so busy denouncing the WFP for erroneously reporting the premature passing of the budget and claiming that they did it to stir up trouble? That the WFP was spreading rumours and lies to incite the people. That none of what they reported was true but based solely on rumour and invention of their imagination? And that they were not a creditable source of information and not legitimate media?

So here we are today being fed a story “from unnamed sources” that may exist only in the imagination of Brock Vodden. Vodden is writing this article as if he is a legitimate media source and presenting us with facts that only he has the privilege of knowing the source of. You are not a legitimate media source and certainly not a creditable source of “leaked” information.

How the worm has turned.

Last time I looked you were being accused of lying in a letter about your petition by another citizen for telling mistruths regarding AMDSB and their handling of notices for the ARC meetings. By the way he was correct they did place ads in the paper I and others, if you bother to ask, saw them. Your reply to him was that you could not find them and I say simply because you did not look for them.

I have asked the question of you, and others who are passionate about the school issue, about where was Ms Schenk back at the beginning. How come she was not there 5 years ago presenting you with information you now say you never got and all I received was blank stares. Why was council not demanding these types of meetings then so they could stay on top of what they and you claim is such a critical issue. Although I seem to remember attending some presentations that were made to council by AMDSB and these questions were not asked then. Was it because you did not care or just that you did not understand?

Now that it is time for the wake and Schenk has come out of hiding to help bury the school and you are still not asking the right questions. You are too busy focusing on why they want to call them campuses then on what is the real purpose of the structure of the move. And I am hearing lots of criticism of AMDSB and their conduct in the past but not one single question about Ms Schenk’s role or lack of it in this matter. If you want to understand what is happening perhaps you should spend some time examining the conduct and motivations or lack thereof of those involved.

You should stop trying to change history and get on with something useful. If your “unnamed source” is correct then you better start working on making sure that we get what we were promised. The Maitland River Elementary School! Make no mistake right or wrong they are going to close those schools and you are not going to stop them. What you should be doing is fighting to make sure the new school gets built. And if the excuse for not building it is money then Dave Riatch’s ridiculous suggestion that AMDSB should just give the Blyth, and I suppose E. Wawanosh school to us for free, becomes even stupider then it was the first time he opened his mouth. By the way where exactly does Riatch propose to get the money to maintain these buildings anyway? OH sorry what am I thinking we will just raise the taxes no problem.

The study of history is supposed to provide understanding of what went right or wrong not change it. This knowledge can help us move forward and hopefully not repeat the errors but build on the good things. The loss of the school in Blyth or any community is tragic to say the least but is a result of the change in society and industry as a whole. The true failure here though has been the inability of the current and past councils to look ahead and prepare for these changes. Spending endless amounts of time arguing about what has happened and who is to blame will not prepare us for the future. It will simply keep us occupied until they turn out the lights and lock the door for the last time.
