On September 30, 2013 at 6:35 p.m., Guelph Police observed a vehicle travelling north on Elmira Road North, approaching Massey Road. A 1991 BMW 850i being operated by a 32 year old male from Ayr, slowed for a red light, then as the light turned green the vehicle accelerated quickly through the intersection turning left (west) in front of vehicle’s waiting to continue south on Elmira Road who had the right of way. The BMW’s rear wheels spun and lost contact with the roadway as the vehicle swerved. Police conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle.
The driver was charged under section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act with Stunt Driving – Impoper Left Turn. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days and the driver had his license suspended for 7 days.
