Strathroy-Caradoc Police Press Release

Vehicle Thefts

On November 7th a silver 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck was stolen from the car pool parking lot located at Longwoods Rd. and Hwy 402. It is believed that the theft occurred between 11:45am and 1:45pm. The truck is described as having a tool box and is equipped with a 5th wheel hitch in the bed.

In the early morning hours of November 10th a red 2006 Chrysler Town and Country minivan Ontario licence HOLME was stolen from an Ellor Street address in Strathroy.

Attempt Theft

On Friday November 11th Police investigated a report of an attempt theft of a 2000 GMC Yukon on Clark Street Campbellvale. Suspects damaged the steering column in the process of trying to steal it. It is believed the vehicle was parked unlocked. Approximately a week ago residents in the area observed a black 2009 Dodge Charger that appeared to be out of the norm, driving slowly throughout the neighbourhood. The vehicle was described as having tinted windows and factory aluminum rims. A partial plate was obtained of “BNBJ”.

Stolen Vehicle

A black 2000 GMC Sierra pick up truck, Alberta licence BRG 8245 was stolen in the early morning hours of Friday November 11th from a residence on Gore Street Mount Brydges. Several attempted vehicle thefts were reported to police in the Mount Brydges area the same date.

Theft of Trailer

On Friday November 11th Police investigated a theft of masonry and construction trailer and cement mixer were taken from the locked gated area from a construction site located at 22279 Mill Road in Mount Brydges.

Sometime between 5pm on Thursday November 10th, 2016 and 8am on Friday November 11th, the chain and pad lock on the fenced compound on the construction site was broken into and a trailer loaded with masonry tools and equipment and a monarch Cement Mixer was taken.

It appears that two vehicles with tow capabilities were most likely used as the cement mixer has a tow hitch separate from the trailer. The following items were taken;

• 2012 QUAL 14K TY BLK (Flatbed trailer) VIN 5LEBK2428C1104068, with Ontario licence plate: J5745N. Worth approx. $8,000

• Monarch masonry mixer, single batch, 9.5 hp Honda gas engine. Mounted on wheels worth approximately $4,500

• 15 metal sections, worth approximately $3,000

• 30 wooden planks, worth approximately $700.00 (16 ft scaffold planks, spruce)

• Outriggers and braces, worth $1,000 (10 metal tech outriggers and 20 frames and 25 metal tech cross braces)

• Masonry tools and equipment, worth approximately $2,000 ( Metal tech scaffold frames , 10 fortress industries screw jacks, 6 heavy duty tie down nylon ratchet straps, 4 chain binders, Masonry cutting jig , homemade, metal corner posts 8, 4 chain binders, 4 tie down chains, 5 gallon gas can (red), 4 gallons high test gasoline, 2 Monarch Masonry shovels

Theft of Batteries

Sometime between 5pm on November 10th and 1pm on November 11th, unknown suspects entered a Glengyle Drive gravel pit and removed 13 batteries from a number of machines that were located there. The value of theft is approximately $3550.00.

Theft/Mischief

On November 11th police investigated the theft of a purse from a vehicle parked in the Goodlife parking lot on Metcalfe Street. Suspects smashed the glass of the vehicle to gain access. The damage and theft occurred at approximately 7:45pm to 7:55pm. Police are reminding the public not to leave anything of value in plain sight in their vehicle.

Police are advising residents to be vigilant in safeguarding their property, increasing their exterior lighting is one of the many crime prevention techniques that homeowners can utilize to reduce these types of incidents and residents are always encouraged to contact police if they observe people or vehicles in their neighbourhood that is suspicious in nature.

Male charged with assault police

On Sunday November 13th at approximately 2:30am, police observed a fight in the parking lot of the Mac’s Variety store on Front St. Strathroy. One of the males involved was intoxicated and was arrested for being intoxicated in public. The male was combative with police and was escorted to cells. When bringing the male into cells he assaulted one of the officers. A 29yr old St. Thomas man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and assault police. The male is scheduled to appear in London court in December.
