On November 29th, 2015 at approximately 4:00pm, Guelph Police officer was on patrol along the boarder with Waterloo Region when they encountered a vehicle that appeared to have encountered mechanical difficulties. The officer stopped to render assistance to the stranded motorists when he learned that the vehicle was stolen. One of the two vehicle occupants fled the area and Guelph police service requested the assistance of the Waterloo Regional Police. Both male occupants were ultimately arrested with the assistance of the Waterloo Regional Police and Guelph Canine. The vehicle was found to contain approximately $8000 in stolen property from a break and enter reported a few days prior. Both males were held for show cause and charged with possession of stolen property under $5000, break and enter and commit, possession of stolen property over $5000 and breach of probation.
