On April 18, 2014, shortly after 6:00 am, the Owen Sound Police Service received a report of a stolen vehicle from the 400 block of 11th Street West Owen Sound, Ontario. The vehicle had apparently been taken by unknown person(s) sometime overnight once a spare key was located inside the contents of the unlocked vehicle allowing the Pontiac G6 to be driven away from the scene.
The Owen Sound Police Service located the vehicle near 16th Street West and Carney Street in the Municipality of Georgian Bluffs. The vehicle was undamaged and did not appear to have anything missing from it. In fact, it appears that stolen items had been left inside the vehicle from additional unlocked vehicles that had been entered throughout the night. The vicinity where the vehicle was recovered became known to Police once calls from citizens in the area reported various entries to other vehicles. Further information revealed that a nearby home owner had confronted a male party just before 1:00 am after observing the male party entering a parked vehicle in their driveway. The male fled the scene before Police were called.
Police are reminding the public to call the Police when they observe suspicious activity and/or person(s) that seem out of place in their neighbourhood so that these types of incidents don’t escalate into numerous victims having items stolen from their property.
It can prevent you and your neighbour from being the victims of stolen property. Also, please take the time to lock your vehicle in order to secure valuables and contents left inside your vehicle.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Owen Sound Police Service at (519) 376-1234 or Crimestoppers.
