On Friday, July 26, 2013 the London Police Service began an investigation in relation to stolen shopping carts being cut/melted down and sold as scrap metal.
A warrant was executed at a Hale Street residence on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 where five shopping carts from different businesses, cutting tools, torch hoses, and five propane tanks were located. The carts that were previously operable were rendered useless.
34-year-old, Melissa Zombori of London, was subsequently arrested and charged with five counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to section 354(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
