(HOWICK, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have charged a male and female with several criminal offences following a traffic stop on September 23, 2013. Shortly after 4:00 p.m. Huron OPP officers stopped a Kia Forte that was travelling on Centre Street in the town of Wroxeter. Officers checked the licence status of the driver and determined he was driving with a suspended licence. The driver was arrested and a search of the vehicle was completed.
Upon searching the vehicle officers located a .22 calibre handgun inside the vehicle along with a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine. Officers were also able to determine the prohibited firearm was stolen from a break, enter and theft that took place in Listowel earlier this month.
As a result, Stephen LANGER, 25, from North Perth has been charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Controlled Substance – (Crystal Methamphetamine) for the Purpose of Trafficking and Driving While Under Suspension. He remains in custody with a bail hearing scheduled for September 26, 2013 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
The passenger, Rebecca BROWN, 25, from Howick has been charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Crime and Possession of a Controlled Substance – (Crystal Methamphetamine) for the Purpose of Trafficking. She has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 17, 2013 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Wingham.
