Standoff – Madison Ave.

On Monday, April 27, 2015, a call was made to the London Police Service at 10:50 a.m. advising that the Sherriff was attending 113 Madison Avenue to evict the occupant of the home.

Information was received that the 46-year-old man was armed with a crossbow and was prepared to use force, if required.

Due to the time involved with this matter, in order to provide relief to our officers, the O.P.P. TRU Team, negotiators and command staff assisted on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.

For the safety of the individual and the surrounding community members, the residence was cordoned off and negotiators communicated with the man for the purpose of having him surrender peacefully.

Our main priority was the safety of officers, the community members and the subject. The matter was resolved as hoped where he surrendered at 10:53 a.m. without incident and no injuries were sustained by anyone.

As a result of an outstanding warrant, Peter Muir was arrested for breach of probation. Members of the London Police Service remain at 113 Madison Avenue where a search will be conducted for any weapons. The investigation continues in relation to any potential new criminal charges.

The London Police Service would like to thank the O.P.P. for their assistance in this matter.
