St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day 2015 is less than a week away. The London Police Service has committed extra resources to address the expected increase in celebratory behaviour in the entertainment district and the residential areas around Western University and Fanshawe College. Our objective is to maintain a highly visible police presence in order to proactively dissuade unlawful activity, adequately respond to calls for service in a timely and efficient manner, reduce calls for service and ensure public safety.

The London Police Service has the support of the University Students’ Council and Fanshawe Student Union.

Both the University Students’ Council and Fanshawe Student Union have promoted the messaging of being a good neighbour.

• Control your celebrations

• Keep the party off the street

• Don’t take on the personal risk of illegally selling alcohol

• Understand that noise on a Monday evening affects neighbours – Be reasonable

• Respect your neighbours

The London Police Service has partnered with the City of London Municipal Law Enforcement Officers, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, the Middlesex London Health Unit and London Fire Services to ensure community safety. Enforcement will be fair and consistent.

On St. Patrick’s Day 2014 the London Police Service issued 74 Provincial Offence Notices, with Open Liquor in a Public Place, Public Intoxication and Public Urination being the most frequent charges.

St. Patrick’s Day is a significant community celebration. The London Police Service is prepared to address the increase in demand for our services by significantly increasing our staffing resources.

Celebrate responsibly and be a good neighbour.
