(PERTH SOUTH, ON) – On Tuesday April 11, 2017 shortly after 8:30 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call that shots had been fired at a rural residence on Perth Line 6 in the Township of Perth South.
Investigation revealed that several shots had been fired at various locations on the property and a lone resident was home at the time. There were no reported injuries as a result. A female party was located and arrested shortly after without incident. The complainant and the accused are known to each other.
As a result 56 year-old Joan CLARKE of St Marys has been charged with attempt to commit murder and possession of weapon for dangerous purpose contrary to the Criminal Code. She is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on Wednesday April 12, 2017.
Perth County OPP Crime unit and West Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS) are investigating.
There is no public safety risk and the investigation is ongoing. Police are not looking for any other suspects.
