Spike Belt Deployed, Youth Arrested

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Wednesday August 01, 2012, shortly before 8 p.m. the OPP communication centre received a call from “OnStar” (the company monitoring built-in GPS real-time vehicle tracking systems). OnStar personnel advised that a stolen 2006 white Cadillac was travelling south bound on Perth Road 130 towards St.Marys. The Cadillac had been stolen from an East Wilmot residence earlier in the evening.

Perth County OPP officers proceeded to intercept the vehicle and deployed a spike belt on Perth Road 130 at Line 14. The Cadillac stopped safely within inches of the spike belt and police roadblock. The driver, a lone seventeen year old male youth from Windsor, was arrested without incident.

The youth has been charged with “possession of stolen property over $5000”, and with “breach of probation” x2. He is to appear in Stratford Bail Court on August 02, 2012.
