(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On November 28, 2017 at approximately 4:10 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 109 near Fourth Line, Town of Minto. The officer observed a male driving a 2006 Dodge Charger at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The officer initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver.
Throughout conversation with the driver police became aware he was providing false information. The driver was arrested for Obstruct Police.
A search incident to arrest discovered a quantity of Marihuana in the vehicle and drug paraphernalia.
33-year-old Lance HIGGINS of West Grey has been charged with Obstruct Police, Possession of Marihuana, Drive motor vehicle no permit, Speeding, Drive motor vehicle no licence and Fail to have insurance card. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 2, 2018.
