Speeding Drunk Driver Caught On Hwy 10 – Name Released

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On January 29, 2017 at approximately 8:40 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a 2014 Dodge Ram pick-up truck for speeding more than 40 km/hr over the posted 50 km/hr zone through Berkeley on Hwy. 10 in the Township of Chatsworth.

Investigation determined that the driver had been drinking alcohol. After failing a roadside breath test, he was arrested and transported to the Markdale OPP Detachment for further breath tests which he failed.

37-year old Carl Robert THOMAS, of Odessa, Ontario, was charged with driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his system as well as driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor under the Liquor Licence Act and speeding under the Highway Traffic Act.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on February 9, 2017.
