(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Thursday March 19, 2015, shortly before 7:00 a.m., a West Region Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division officer stopped a Chevrolet SUV for speeding along Hwy 23 north of Gowanstown. The officer, while speaking to the female driver, detected the odour of alcoholic beverage being emitted from her breath. She failed a roadside breath test and also failed subsequent Intoxilyzer Breath Tests at the OPP Detachment in Listowel.
Stacy SHARPIN, (43) of Howick Twp has been charged with, “drive with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood”, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel on May 06, 2015, where she will have to answer to this charge. She received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and her motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
The OPP will continue their messaging, patrols and regular RIDE programs in an attempt to stop this type of behaviour and maintain safer roadways in our communities.
