(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Wednesday July 06, 2011 shortly after 6 p.m. an OPP West Region Traffic officer was on patrol south bound on Road 140 south of Perth Line 86. The officer observed a fast moving pickup truck driving in a south bound direction ahead of the cruiser. The officer activated the police radar and locked the pickup truck in on radar at 141 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The road is a gravel road and the speeding vehicle threw up extensive dust and gravel. The officer was able to safely stop the speeding vehicle at Perth Line 72 as it stopped for a stop sign.
As a result of travelling 61 km above the speed limit, a 36 year old male from North Perth will have to appear in Stratford court on August 09, 2011 to answer to the charge of racing a motor vehicle. The male’s driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his company truck was towed from the scene and impounded for a week.
