On June 7, 2016 at 12:43 p.m., a 53-year-old Oakville woman was operating her Honda motor vehicle westbound on Woodlawn Road West from Elmira Road. She approached an unmarked Guelph Police vehicle from behind at a high rate of speed. That police vehicle was equipped with radar and her speed was recorded at 98 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. The officer moved into the common left turn lane to allow the Honda to pass so that a traffic stop could be conducted. The Honda passed the unmarked vehicle at high speed and continued westbound on Woodlawn Road. As the Honda approached Governors Road (followed by the officer who was preparing to stop it) it was stopped by a second police officer who had recorded a speed of 99 km/h with a stationary Laser.
The driver was issued a Provincial Offence Ticket for speeding with a set fine of $289.00.
