(BLUEWATER, ON) – On April 25, 2012 at 2:25 p.m. the driver of a northbound Ford pickup truck on Bluewater Highway was stopped near Staffa Road for speeding. Upon speaking to the 58 year old male driver from Michigan the officer noticed a radar detector inside the vehicle. The driver stated the radar detector was not plugged in and was under the belief he was not breaking the law. Under section 79 (2) of the Highway Traffic Act no person shall drive on a highway a motor vehicle that is equipped with or that carries or contains a speed measuring warning device.
The driver received a $170 ticket for driving a motor vehicle with a speed measuring warning device. The device was also seized. LP12108938
