Speeder Caught Near Teviotdale Going 143 in an 80

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Saturday March 05, 2016, around 5 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting speed enforcement on Perth Road 140 south of Teviotdale, when a fast moving vehicle was observed.

An Infinity G35 was driving north bound on Perth Road 140 at an excessive rate of speed. The officer activated the police radar and locked the vehicle in at a speed of 143 km/h. This is 63 km/h above the posted 80 km/h zone. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the Infinity.

The male driver of the Infinity, 43-year-old Abdul WAHEED from Stouffville was issued a summons for “race motor vehicle”. He is to appear in Stratford Court on March 22, 2016 to answer to this charge. His driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle was towed from the scene and has been impounded for a week.

The Perth County OPP wants to remind the public, that as we approach “March Break”, and the weather starts getting warmer, more traffic will be appearing on our roadways. The OPP will actively monitor the “Big 4” driving behaviours, impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and seatbelt usage.
