On February 10, 2017, at 9:05 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police were conducting school zone traffic enforcement, near Keatsway Public School in Waterloo. An officer clocked a red Mazda doing 62 km/h in the 40 km/h zone. The officer then noticed the driver speed through a nearby crosswalk as the crossing guard was walking across with a group of children. The driver was charged with speeding and failing to obey a school crossing guard.
