Speeder Caught Doing 161 in an 80

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) Shortly after 2 p.m. on Friday January 03, 2014, an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division officer was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 23 north of Bornholm.

The officer activated his speed measuring device when he observed a fast moving Honda Accord. The vehicle speed was locked in at 161 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone which is 81 km above the 80 km/h posted speed limit. The motorist was pulled over and the 25 year old male from Orillia was issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”. He is scheduled to appear in Stratford Court on February 11, 2014 to answer to this charge. The male’s driver’s licence was seized and has been returned to the Ministry of Transportation as it is suspended for 7 days. His vehicle has also been impounded for a period of 7 days.
