(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has closed some area roads as another powerful winter storm passes through the area.
Highway 9 and Bruce County Road 19 are now open. Highway 21, Bruce County Road 23 and Bruce County Road 86 remain closed.
Highway 21 – from Amberley to Port Elgin
Bruce County Road 23 – from Kincardine to Bruce County Road 20
Bruce County Road 86 – from Highway 21 to Wingham
The closures are in effect due to high winds, blowing snow and poor to no visibility. Motorists are asked to respect the closures and avoid these roads.
The penalty for driving on a closed highway is a $110 fine and 3 demerit points, but the consequences can be far worse if you become involved in a collision, or stranded, in a white out.
The Bruce County plows are still working, but having trouble keeping up due to extremely poor visibility.
Do not call police for road/weather conditions; this is not a service that we provide.
