Drive Over 80 mgs
(Innisfil, ON) On Monday, August 29, 2016, around 11:30 p.m., a concerned citizen reported a possibly impaired driver to South Simcoe Police. Officers located and then stopped the vehicle on Innisfil Beach Road. When the officer spoke to the driver, he smelled alcohol on her breath. A roadside screening device test resulted in a FAIL. After further testing a the station, a 46 year old Barrie woman was charged with Drive Over 80 mgs. Her licence was suspended for 90 days, and her car impounded. She will appear in court in September.
Impaired Driving
(Innisfil, ON) On Tuesday, August 30, 2016, just before 2:00 a.m., South Simcoe Police were called to a collision at 20 Sideroad and the 2nd Line in Gilford. Arriving officers found a car in the ditch. The 49 year old male driver of the car was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. His licence has been suspended for 90 days, and his car impounded. He will appear in court in September. The female passenger in his car was not injured.
Dangerous Driving
(Bradford, ON) On Tuesday, August 30, 2016, around 3:00 a.m., South Simcoe Police were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Disette Street in Bradford. A vehicle approached the spot check and made an immediate u-turn. The driver led the officers on a short pursuit through nearby residential areas, turning off his headlights to avoid detection. As he went through a stop sign at a high rate of speed, he narrowly avoided colliding with another car. The suspect then pulled over, and officers were able to apprehend the occupants. Two Bradford teens were investigated, and the owner of the car contacted. As a result, a 14 year old youth has been charged with Dangerous Driving, Flight From Police and Drive Motor Vehicle-No Licence. He will appear in court in September.
