Domestic Assault

(Bradford, ON) On Saturday, March 25, 2017, just before 11:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police constable was walking to his patrol vehicle at the South Division when he heard a woman crying. He then saw the woman walking by on the sidewalk and approached her. When he spoke to her, she told him that she had just been assaulted by her boyfriend during an argument. The 24 year old male suspect was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault. The Everett man must stay away from the victim while he awaits a court date in May. The victim did not require medical aid.

Impaired Driving

(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, March 26, 2017, around 1:00 a.m., a South Simcoe Police constable was patrolling Bradford when he stopped a driver for erratic driving. While speaking to the driver he noted signs of alcohol impairment. The driver was arrested and taken to the station for testing. A 26 year old woman from Bradford was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded. She will appear in court in April.

Domestic Assault (Bradford, ON) On Sunday, March 26, 2017, during the dinner hour, South Simcoe Police were notified of an ongoing domestic dispute. Officers went to the residence and spoke to a man at the home. While they were there, a woman came home and told the officers that she had been assaulted by the man, had a chair thrown at her and that he had broken a door by punching it. The 26 year old Bradford man was charged with Domestic Assault, Assault With a Weapon and Mischief. He must reside elsewhere and avoid contact with the victim while he awaits a May court appearance. The victim did not require medical assistance.

Impaired Driving (Bradford, ON) On Monday, March 27, 2017, around 3:00 a.m., a concerned citizen called South Simcoe Police after seeing an intoxicated man get into a vehicle in downtown Bradford. Officers arrived with seconds and stopped the vehicle just as it was driving away. The officer spoke to the driver and placed him under arrest. After testing at the station, a 35 year old man from Holland Landing was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded. He will appear in court in April.

The South Simcoe Police applaud the witness for calling police in this incident. His concern eliminated a public safety threat. We are dedicated to defeating impaired driving in our community. You can help by calling 9-1-1 if you see a possibly impaired driver.

Drive Under Suspension (Bradford, ON) On Friday, March 24, 2017, around 3:20 p.m., a South Simcoe Police constable checked a van in downtown Bradford. The driver of the vehicle was under suspension. The 65 year old Bradford man had been suspended since October. He will appear in court in May, charged with Drive Under Suspension.

Thefts from Autos (Bradford, ON) On Sunday, March 26, 2017, South Simcoe Police were notified of tool thefts from vehicles in Bradford overnight. In both cases, construction tools were taken from pick up trucks, one on Mason Drive, the other on Downy Emerald Drive. While locking your vehicle does work, we find that determined tool thieves will break into locked vehicles. Surveillance cameras and motion activated lights can help to keep your property safe.
