(Bradford, ON) South Simcoe Police are requesting the assistance of the public in locating a hit and run suspect. On Saturday, October 22, 2016, at 6:40 p.m., a black Ford F-150 pick up with chrome stack mufflers was involved in a collision at Holland Street East and Colborne Street in Bradford. The truck ran a red light, striking a car making a turn onto Holland Street. The pickup left the scene of the collision without stopping, travelling south onto Morris Road then onto Centre Street. The vehicle had severe damage to the front end and was leaking fluids. The driver of the car was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries. Anyone with information on the suspect vehicle or driver is asked to call South Simcoe Police at 905-775-3311 extension 1407 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Drive Over 80 mgs
(Innisfil, ON) On Saturday, October 22, 2016, around 8:45 p.m., an off duty York Regional Police officer called 9-1-1 to report a possibly impaired driver. A South Simcoe Police constable intercepted the suspect vehicle north of Stroud and pulled it over. The female driver of the car had the odour of alcohol on her breath and admitted to drinking earlier. A roadside screening device test was conducted, resulting in a FAIL. After some more testing at the station, a 47 year old Barrie woman has had her driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and her car impounded. She will be in court in November to answer to a charge of Drive Over 80 mgs.
Domestic Assault
(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, October 23, 2016. a woman came to the South Simcoe Police station in Bradford and reported an assault. The woman told officers that she had been assaulted by her husband on Thursday night, that he had kicked and broken the stove on Friday night, and had broken a chair in the home on Saturday night, all while engaging in a domestic dispute with his wife. A 44 year old Bradford man was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault and two counts of Domestic Mischief. He was released to a November court date on conditions to not communicate with the victim. The woman was not seriously injured in the assault.
Drive Over 80 mgs – R.I.D.E.
(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, October 23, 2016, South Simcoe Police were conducting a R.I.D.E. spot check on 10 Sideroad and the 9th Line in Bradford. Just before 11:00 p.m., a vehicle entered the spot check and the driver spoke with an officer. The constable noted the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath and a roadside screening device test resulted in a FAIL. After further testing at the station, a 22 year old Bradford man was charged with Drive Over 80 mgs. His car was impounded and his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days. He was given a November court date.
