South Simcoe Police Daily News Release – 13Mar2017

Arson Investigation

On Sunday, March 12, 2017, around 4:50 a.m., South Simcoe Police, along with Bradford Fire and Emergency Services, responded to a structure fire at 3329 11th Line in Bradford West Gwillimbury. The vacant and abandoned home was fully engulfed when officers arrived. A second fire at another abandoned home nearby was discovered at 6:22 a.m. Both structures were completely destroyed.

The Office of the Fire Marshal has assumed control of the investigation and will be assisted by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau.

Assault With A Weapon

(Bradford, ON) On Saturday, March 11, 2017, at 11:00 p.m., South Simcoe Police responded to an assault call at a Bradford home. A woman told officers that a man came to her apartment to confront her brother. When she restrained the suspect at the door of the apartment, he reached around her, and swung a frying pan at her brother, striking him in the face.

The suspect was located, arrested and charged with Assault With Weapon. The 27 year old Sunderland man must stay away from the victim while he awaits an April court date. The victim did not require medical attention.

R.I.D.E. Results

(Innisfil, ON) Officers were out on a stormy Friday night conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks. Despite the poor weather, 450 cars were stopped. 5 drivers were given Roadside Screening Device tests. All passed.
