South Simcoe Police Daily News Release – 13Feb2017

(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, February 12, 2017, around 2:00 a.m., South Simcoe Police were called to a home in Bradford for a domestic assault. When officers arrived, they found a woman outside, barefoot and without a coat. She told them her boyfriend had assaulted her, then threw her outside into the snow.

The suspect refused to answer the door or telephone. At 3:30 p.m., the suspect surrendered himself at the South Division. The 28 year old Bradford man was held in custody for a bail hearing, charged with two counts of Assault and two counts of Breach Probation.

The victim was not injured.

Shoplifting Arrest

(Innisfil, ON) On Saturday, February 11, 2017, around 3:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police were called after two suspects stole a watch from a jeweller at the 400 Market. A description of the suspects and their vehicle was broadcast. The suspect vehicle was located nearby, and the suspects, who fled in a taxi, were arrested in Bradford. A 43 year old man and a 28 year old woman, both from Toronto, will be in court in March charged with Theft Under $5000.

The stolen watch was recovered.

Impaired Driving

(Bradford, ON) On Friday, February 10, 2017, around 6:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police constable was patrolling Bradford when her attention was drawn to some erratic driving. After speaking with the driver, the officer smelled alcohol on the man’s breath. A roadside screening device test was given, resulting in a FAIL. After further testing at the station, the 54 year old Bradford man was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. His vehicle was impounded and his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days. He will appear in court later this month.

Drive Over 80 mgs

(Bradford, ON) Saturday, February 11, 2017, around 9:30 p.m., a South Simcoe Police constable stopped a car in Bradford. When the officer approached the car, he saw an open can of beer on the console. The driver admitted to drinking and a roadside screening device test was given, resulting in a FAIL. The officer also discovered that the man was on a bail condition to not consume alcohol. A 46 year old Bradford man was charged with Drive Over 80 mgs and Fail To Comply-Undertaking. He will appear in court later this month. In the meantime, his vehicle was impounded and his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.
