Domestic Assault
(Innisfil, ON) On Friday, October 7, 2016, South Simcoe Police were called to an Alcona home for a domestic dispute. A woman told officers that she and her estranged husband were arguing when he threw a can of pop at her. The suspect was located nearby and charged with Assault With a Weapon. The 39 year old Innisfil man must stay away from the victim while he awaits a November court date. The woman was not injured.
Drive Over 80 mgs
(Innisfil, ON) On Friday, October 7, 2016, South Simcoe Police were conducting a R.I.D.E. spot check on Shore Acres Drive in Gilford. Around 10:00 p.m., a vehicle was stopped and the driver spoke to officers, who noted the smell of alcohol. A roadside screening device test resulted in a FAIL, and further testing at the station. A 30 year old Richmond Hill man was charged with Drive Over 80 mgs. His licence has been suspended for 90 days. He will appear in court later this month.
Drive Over 80 mgs
(Innisfil, ON) On Saturday, October 8, 2016, South Simcoe Police were conducting a R.I.D.E. spot check on Mapleview Drive in Innisfil. Around 2:22 a.m., a woman was stopped, and the odour of alcohol was present on her breath. A roadside screening device test resulted in a FAIL, and the woman was taken to the station for further testing. As a result, the 23 year old Barrie woman was charged with Drive Over 80 mgs. Her licence has been suspended for 90 days and her car impounded. She will appear in court later this month.
Drive Under Suspension
(Bradford, ON) On Saturday, October 8, 2016, just before 11:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police constable was patrolling Bradford when he stopped a suspended driver. The man had been acting nervous when he saw the police vehicle, prompting the officer to run a licence plate check. The 26 year old Barrie man was charged with Drive Under Suspension. He will appear in court in November.
WARN Range Suspension
(Bradford, ON) On Saturday, October 8, 2016, just after 11:00 p.m., a South Simcoe police constable was operating a cruiser equipped with an Automated Licence Plate Reader. The device alerted the officer to a car in front of her that had an expired validation. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer noted the smell of alcohol, and a roadside screening device test was conducted. The 28 year old Bradford woman had her licence suspended for three days. She was also charged for the expired licence plate.
Impaired Driving
(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, October 9, 2016, just after 2:30 a.m., South Simcoe Police were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Dissette Street in Bradford. A car entered the spot check and an officer spoke with the driver. When he did so, the officer noted signs of alcohol impairment and the man was arrested and taken to the station for testing. A 27 year old Newmarket man has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs, as well as a number of Highway Traffic Act offences. His licence has been suspended for 90 days. He is scheduled to appear in court later this month.

(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, October 9, 2016, just after 8:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police constable stopped a suspended driver after being alerted to the car by the Automated Licence Plate Reader. A 51 year of man from Bradford will appear in court in November, charged with Drive Under Suspension.
Drive Under Suspension
(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, October 9, 2016, just before 9:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police constable was operating a cruiser outfitted with an Automated Licence Plate Reader. A passing pickup truck was flagged as the owner being suspended. The officer stopped the car and charged a 17 year old youth with Drive Under Suspension. The driver’s licence was seized and the vehicle impounded for 7 days.
30 Day WARN Range Suspension
(Bradford, ON) On Monday, October 10, 2016, just before 10:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police sergeant stopped a car in Bond Head for driving with improper headlights. The female driver had the smell of alcohol on her breath and a roadside screening device test was given, resulting in a WARN. Since the woman had been suspended twice before for WARN range tests, her licence was suspended for 30 days.
