South Simcoe Police Daily News Release – 08Dec2016

(Bradford, ON) On Wednesday, December 7, 2016, just after 10:00 a.m., South Simcoe Police were called to a Canal Road residence for a report of a Break and Enter in progress.

A man, known to the family, had arrived on their doorstep a few days earlier, after an absence of several years. His presence was unwelcome and unwanted. Police were called, but the suspect was gone before officers arrived.

He returned two days later, and also left before police arrived. The suspect was contacted by phone and told not to return.

On Thursday morning, the man returned again and used a crowbar to break into the basement apartment where one female resident was asleep. Her brother came downstairs when she screamed and held the intruder for police.

A 25 year old man from Brampton was held in custody for a show cause hearing charged with Break & Enter, Possession of Burglary Tools and Mischief Under $5000.

Festive R.I.D.E.

(Innisfil, ON) Officers from our Festive R.I.D.E. unit were out on Wednesday evening. 100 cars were stopped at various locations in Innisfil. Four of those drivers were given roadside screening device tests. One driver registered a caution for having between 50 and 80 mgs of alcohol in her system. The 50 year old Innisfil woman had her driver’s licence suspended for 3 days.

Drivers are reminded that our Festive R.I.D.E. officers will be out daily until January. We are on a mission to reduce impaired driving, by alcohol or drugs, in an effort to make the roads in South Simcoe the safest in Canada.
