Counterfeit Bills
Counterfeit currency, both Canadian and US bills, have recently been reported by businesses in our community. The holder of such a bill is responsible for its validity. A bank will not refund you if you accept it from a third party. Identifying a fake bill can be difficult, but the Bank of Canada offers free information to stay up to date on currency safety features located on their website www.thebankofcanada.com. If you have any doubts, refuse to accept the bill or bring it to any bank for verification.
