Dangerous Driving
(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, December 4, 2016 around 5:00 a.m., South Simcoe Police were called by a Vipond Way resident who told them someone was trying to break in to their home. A vehicle description was obtained, and responding officers located the suspects in a car nearby. An attempt to stop the car was unsuccessful and a short pursuit ensued. Three youths were arrested moments later. The investigation revealed that the youths went to the address and banged on the door before egging the house and fleeing.
The driver was charged with Mischief Under $5000, Flight From Police and Dangerous Driving. The two other youths were placed in a diversion program in lieu of criminal charges.
The driver will appear in Youth Court in January.
Shoplifting Arrest
(Innisfil, ON) On Saturday, December 3, 2016, just before the dinner hour, South Simcoe Police were called to an Alcona grocery store. A security officer had watched a customer select and conceal a cut of meat and leave the store without paying for the item.
The suspect was arrested and held for police.
The 58 year old Innisfil man was charged with Theft Under $5000. He will appear in court in January.
Festive R.I.D.E. – WARN Range Suspensions
(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, December 4, 2016, just after 2:00 a.m., a man was stopped at a R.I.D.E. spotcheck in Bradford. When the officer smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath, a roadside screening device test was conducted. The man registered a WARN, and had his driver’s licence suspended for 3 days.
On Saturday, December 3, 2016, around 10:00 p.m., a woman entered a spot check on Highway 27 north of Schomberg. An officer noted the odour of alcohol on the woman’s breath, and a roadside screening device test was done. The result was a WARN, meaning her blood alcohol level was between 50 and 80 mgs. Her licence was suspended for 3 days.
Drive Under Suspension
(Innisfil, ON) On Friday, December 2, 2016, around 3:30 p.m., a South Simcoe Police constable was operating a cruiser equipped with an Automated Licence Plate Reader. The reader alerted the officer to a passing vehicle with an expired permit. When the officer stopped the car, she learned that the driver’s licence was under suspension. A 30 year old Bradford man was charged with Drive Under Suspension and No Current Permit. He will be in traffic court in January.
