Domestic Assault

(Bradford, ON) On Friday, September 30, 2016, around 1:30 a.m., South Simcoe Police attended County Road 88 near Highway 400 for a domestic dispute. Responding officers located a man and a woman near a truck stop who told officers they had been arguing in their car on the highway. The woman told officers that her boyfriend had slapped and grabbed her while he was driving. She said he also tried to push her out of the vehicle after pulling over. A 35 year old man from Gilford has been charged with Domestic Assault. He has been ordered to stay away from the victim while he awaits an October court date. The woman was not injured.

Drive Over 80 mgs

(Bradford, ON) On Friday, September 30, 2016, just before midnight, a South Simcoe Police constable stopped a motorist for having an expired licence plate validation. After speaking with the driver and smelling alcohol on the man’s breath, a roadside screening device test was conducted. A 21 year old Bradford man was charged with Drive Over 80 mgs and two Highway Traffic Act charges. He will appear in court later this month. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded.

Fugitive Arrested

(Bradford, ON) On Monday, October 3, 2016, a man wanted on a warrant for missing court turned himself in to police in Bradford. The 35 year old man had failed to make a scheluded court appearance in May, and had been evading capture since then. He was held in custody, and will have a bail hearing later today. He is now facing a Fail To Appear charge in addition to his original Fraud and Possession of Stolen Property charges.

Stunt Driving

(Innisfil, ON) On Monday, October 3, 2016, around 8:45 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Traffic officer was patrolling Yonge Street in Innsifil. The officer was investigating a complaint of speeding in the area when he saw a speeding car approaching. The vehicle was caught on radar at 141 km/h, stopped and the driver investigated. A 27 year old Orillia man will be in court in November, charged with Speeding and Stunt Driving. His car has been impounded and his licence suspended for 7 days.
