South Bruce Man Facing Numerous Charges After Traffic Stop In North Perth

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Tuesday February 28, 2017 shortly before 11:00 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a green Toyota Corolla on Wallace Avenue North in the Municipality of North Perth.

The officer stopped the driver after he observed him almost cause a collision. The driver refused to identify himself to the officer and was subsequently arrested. Further investigation by the officer determined several offences had been committed.

41 year-old Matthew WEILER, from South Bruce has been charged with:

Turn-not in safety (Highway Traffic Act)

Fail to identify self (Highway Traffic Act)

Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)

Dirty plate (Highway Traffic Act)

Use plate not authorized for vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)

Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner (Highway Traffic Act)

The driver was released from custody and is to appear at the Provincial Offences Court in Stratford on March 28, 2017. The plates were seized and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
