South Bruce Festive RIDE – Week One Results

(SOUTH BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The OPP is conducting its annual Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign from November 25, 2011 to January 1, 2012 and is reminding motorists that province-wide R.I.D.E. stops will be highly-visible throughout the holiday season.

The South Bruce OPP is utilizing all available personnel to participate in the Festive R.I.D.E. campaign. 6 charges have been laid during the first week:

November 25th, 2011 at 12:00 am, R.I.D.E. check on Absalom Street in Mildmay. 18 year old Dustin FISCHER of Hanover charged with Person under 19 years having liquor.

November 26th, 2011 at 2:25 pm, R.I.D.E. check on Yonge Street North in Walkerton. Driver attempted to avoid the R.I.D.E., officers discovered expired licence plates. 23 year old Jamie WEBER of Brant Township charged with Use unauthorized plate.

November 26th, 2011 at 4:41 pm, R.I.D.E. check on Saratoga Road in Huron Township. 43 year old Mike PIERSON of Kincardine charged with Distracted driving – handheld device.

November 27th, 2011 at 12:27 am, R.I.D.E. check on Absalom Street West in Mildmay. 17 year old vehicle passenger charged with Person under 19 years having liquor.

November 27th, 2011 at 1:25 am, R.I.D.E. check on Jane Street North in Mildmay. 16 year old pedestrian charged with Person 19 years having liquor.

December 1st, 2011 at 11:45 pm, R.I.D.E. check on Jackson Street South in Walkerton. 34 year old Jeffrey LAVER of Hanover was charged with Possession of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 9, 2012 to answer to the charge.
