(PERTH COUNTY, ON) The Perth County OPP has received numerous complaints from concerned citizens and motorists about snow machine operators who fail to come to a stop prior to crossing roads.
The Ontario Federation Of Snowmobile Clubs trails in Perth County cross many Provincial, County and Township roads. Most of these crossings will have stop signs erected pursuant to the regulations made under the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act. They are official signs and need to be obeyed.
Snowmobile Riders must also cross a roadway at an angle of approximately 90 degrees to the direction of the serviced roadway.
Failure to abide by these rules can result in an $85 ticket (plus a $25 victim fine surcharge), but more importantly it can lead to serious injury or death. Remember, your helmet will protect you but it also obstructs your view as you cross roadways.
Ride safe, obey the rules.
