Snow squall warning in effect for:
Goderich – Bluewater – Southern Huron County
Listowel – Milverton – Northern Perth County
Stratford – Mitchell – Southern Perth County
Wingham – Blyth – Northern Huron County
Snow squalls are expected. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.
Snow squalls are coming off Lake Huron. Local amounts of 10 to 15 cm per 12 hours are expected in the most persistent snow squalls today. Snow squalls will shift to the south today and weaken tonight.
Motorists should be prepared for hazardous winter driving conditions due to sudden white out conditions from bursts of heavy snow and blowing snow. Travel plans should be adjusted accordingly.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Road closures are possible.
Snow squall warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
