(Huron County, ON) I, along with the rest of you, am running out of places to put the snow that has to be shovelled. On the roadway is NOT an option however. It doesn’t matter if the snow comes off the end of your shovel or out of a snowblower. It is against the law to put it on the roadway. The law speaks to safety issues that can occur when this is done. The following is an excerpt from the Highway Traffic Act:
Deposit of snow on roadway
181. No person shall deposit snow or ice on a roadway without permission in writing so to do from the Ministry or the road authority responsible for the maintenance of the road.
The fine amount is $110.00 including surcharges. Please be safe and respectful of people using the roads and sidewalks in front of your residence.
