On Sunday November 30, 2014 at approximately 8:45 a.m. members of the Guelph Police Service had occasion to arrest an adult male on Gordon St. near Fountain St. in relation to an ongoing motor vehicle collision investigation. Through processing the accused complained of an injury and was transported to the GGH where he was treated and released. Accordingly the Guelph Police contacted the Ontario Special Investigations Unit advising of the injury. The SIU subsequently invoked its mandate to investigate the injury.
As always the Guelph Police Service cooperated with the SIU through its investigation.
On February 3, 2015 the SIU Director advised the Guelph Police Service that SIU investigation into the matter had been “terminatedâ€. The Director added that the injury sustained by the adult male “resulted from his misstep on a ladder and not as a result of his interaction with the policeâ€.
