SHROPSHALL Arrested For Drunk Driving Hit And Run In Mitchell

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) – On Saturday August 27, 2016, around 1:30 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a collision on St. Andrew Street north of Charlotte St. in Mitchell.

Officers arriving on the scene within minutes of receiving the call, observed an unoccupied Dodge Journey which had driven into the rear of a parked Ford Ranger on the east side of St. Andrew Street. The male driver of the Dodge was observed walking a short distance north of the collision scene.

The male driver, displaying signs of impairment, was arrested and transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville, where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

29-year-old David Donald SHROPSHALL of the Municipality of West Perth has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:

Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol)

Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood

He was also charged with, “Fail to remain”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to answer the charges at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on Monday September 12, 2016. He was issued an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
