Should North Huron Continue To Subsidize Mooch-Turnberry’s Use Of Complex?

Currently the North Huron Community Complex loses a great deal of money, depending on your perspective, it is anywhere from 1/2 million to a million dollars a year. This loss is paid by the tax payers in North Huron via our property taxes. Residents of NH pay for the complex whether they use it or not, it is included in our property tax bill.

One estimate is that 25% of our property taxes go toward the loss at the Complex.
($1,000,000 loss, $4,100,000 raised by property taxes)

That means that families are forced to pay about $1,000/year for the complex, whether they step foot in it or not. North Huron taxpayers do not get a discount on any fees charged at the Complex.

If you live in Wingham, your family is paying about $1,000/year more for the complex as compared to someone living just outside of town.

To make the system fair, NH residents should either get a discount on fees at the Complex, or out-of-towners should pay more.
