On Monday December 26 th , 2016, the Owen Sound Police Service received a complaint of a German Shepherd mixed breed dog behaving aggressively in the Bayfield Landing area of the 2100 block of 9th Avenue East.
The responding officer arrived just before 2:00 PM. Shortly after exiting his cruiser, the officer encountered the dog. The dog aggressively charged at the officer, who fired one shot, wounding the animal.
The owners were located a short time later. The dog was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment. It is expected to recover.
The incident is still under investigation.
