On Feb 5 2015 at approximately 1pm the Waterloo Regional Police Service responded to 70 Bridgeport Rd E in the City of Waterloo to respond to a shoplifting incident. Police arrived at the store and located a loss prevention officer struggling to arrest and detain a 24 year old male shoplifter. Once Police arrived the male was arrested without further incident and no injuries were suffered by any parties during the altercation. As a result of further investigation the arrested party was found in possession of methamphetamine with an approximate value of $4,500 along with a prohibited weapon. The male will be charged with theft and possession under $5000, assault with intent to resist, weapons dangerous and possession for the purpose of trafficking and held for a show cause hearing.
