Shooting Victim Airlifted to Hospital

(WINGHAM-ON) At approximately 5:00 a.m. on November 22, 2009 Hanover Police Service responded to a report of a drive by shooting in the area of 11th Avenue in the Town of Hanover, Ontario. As a result of that incident, one male had to be airlifted to the London Health Sciences Centre with serious injuries.

The Hanover Police Service investigation led to the Town of Wingham where the Wingham Police Service assisted in locating suspects in a residence in the area of Scott Street in the Town of Wingham.

In order to assist with the search and arrest of the suspects wanted in connection with this investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) under the direction of Detective Inspector Scott Naylor were requested to provide the resources of the OPP Tactical and Rescue Unit, the Emergency Response Team and the Huron OPP Crime Unit.

Currently, police have arrested two individuals in relation to this ongoing investigation. Further information will be released as it becomes available. Police advise that this is an isolated incident and there is no risk to public safety.
