Shooting Leads To Grow Op Bust

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On September 12, 2017, at approximately 5:10 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a male who was injured at a private residence on Medway Road, near Highbury Avenue.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and later released.

The investigation revealed that the victim was injured by a pellet fired from nearby property.

As police investigated this event, a marijuana growing operation was located. Police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CSDA) search warrant at a property on Medway Road on September 13, 2017.

As a result of this investigation, 26-year-old Corey CONNOLLY of Middlesex Centre was arrested and charged with the following offences pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA):

Pointing and Firearm

Assault with A Weapon

Discharge Firearm with Intent

Firearm-Use While Committing Offence

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

Produce a Schedule II Substance (Cannabis)

Possession of Schedule II Substance for Trafficking – under 3kg

62-year-old Michael CONNOLLY and 51-year-old Brenda AWALT, both of Middlesex Centre were also arrested and subsequently charged with Produce a Schedule II Substance (Cannabis) and Possession of Schedule II Substance for Trafficking – under 3kg pursuant to the CDSA.

The accused were released on a Promise to Appear (PTA) and are scheduled to answer to the charges at the Ontario Court of Justice in London on October 13, 2017.
