Shawn Michael VAIL – Break and Enter X5, Breach, Weapon & Drugs

Just before 7:00pm last night, a uniform officer from the Owen Sound Police Service investigated a lone male in a cube van parked in the 1300 block of 16th Avenue East. Investigation at the scene revealed that the male was wanted on an arrest warrant for a previous break and enter offence. The male was arrested on the warrant without incident. Property in possession of the male was located, linking him to another previous break and enter.

Officers from the Owen Sound Police Criminal Investigations Branch continued the investigation. As a result of the investigation, the accused was found to be responsible for five (5) residential burglaries on the east side of Owen Sound, between November 2014 and April 2015.

Detectives executed a search warrant on the van that the male was operating and have subsequently recovered some of the stolen property. The recovered property included a set of golf clubs, electronics and prescription medications. The investigation is continuing.

Thirty-four (34) year old Shawn Michael VAIL from Owen Sound has been charged with;

Break and Enter to a residence, five (5) counts

Possession of Break–in tools

Possession of stolen property, two (2) counts

Possession of a prohibited weapon

Breach of Probation, six (6) counts

Possession of Schedule 1 drug

VAIL was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
