Seven Vehicle Collision On College Avenue West

On Monday, May 30th at 5:13 p.m., police responded to a seven vehicle collision on College Avenue West near University Drive. A black four door Mazda, that was westbound on College Avenue, veered around a white minivan attempting to turn eastbound on College Avenue from University and struck a Honda that was stopped in a line of traffic. The collision sent the Honda into the rear of a Toyota forcing the Toyota into a Volkswagen. The Mazda was then struck by a GMC that was following behind it. While the collision was occurring, the white minivan reversed backwards and struck a Mitsubishi that was stopped behind it and then left the scene. There were a total of ten people occupying the involved vehicles, none of which reported any injuries. Both the Mazda and Honda sustained major damage and were towed from the scene. The other four vehicles, although damaged, were driven away. Total damage was estimated at $40,000. Two of the involved drivers, a 26 year old female from Mississauga and a 40 year old male from Guelph were both issued summonses for the offence of Careless Driving. College Avenue was closed for almost two hours for the investigation and removal of the vehicles. If anyone has information or may have witnessed the collision, please contact Cst. SINGLE MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION ON EDINBURGH ROAD SOUTH

On Monday, May 30th at 12:46 p.m., a black four door Volkswagen was southbound on Edinburgh Road South, near Dean Avenue, when it crossed over the northbound lanes, struck the curb and left the roadway. The vehicle sheared off a hydro pole and continued a short distance on the grass before it struck a tree and came to rest. The driver, a 19 year old male from Guelph, was transported to Guelph General Hospital and treated for minor injuries. The vehicle was written off in the collision. Total damage is estimated over $20,000.00. The road was closed for several hours, while repairs were made to the damaged hydro pole.
