(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – On Sunday April 22, 2012 at approximately 4:55 p.m. Huron County OPP officers responded to a two vehicle collision on Bluewater Veterans Highway between Golf Course Road and Bogie’s Beach Road. Officers were assisted on scene by Huron County paramedics and Goderich Fire Department members.
A burgundy Chevrolet Blazer travelling southbound on Bluewater Veterans Highway collided with a silver Mazda 3 travelling northbound on Bluewater Veterans Highway. Both female drivers were transported via air ambulance to Victoria Hospital in London with life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Cheverolet Blazer, Wendy GILDERS, age 69, from Point Clark, ON has died in hospital. A post mortem examination will be completed.
The second driver, a 39 year old female from Kincardine, ON has life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Members from the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation team continue to investigate the crash.
