(MINTO TOWNSHIP, ON) On Saturday August 24, 2013 at approximately 3:42pm, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call for a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred on Wellington County Road 109 near Wellington Road 5, in the Town of Minto. A 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier was northbound on Wellington County Road 109 and a 2013 Toyota Rav4 was southbound on County Road 109.
The investigation revealed that the Chevrolet Cavalier attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway and collided with the Toyota.
The 52 year old female driver of the Toyota was uninjured. The 38 year old male driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured and his passengers were taken to the hospital. The one passenger was a child age 4 and he was taken to the Palmerston Hospital by ambulance with Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and treated for minor injuries. The second passenger is a child age 1 and he was taken by air ambulance to Victoria Children’s Hospital in London with major injuries.
The Wellington County OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) are investigating the collision.
The Minto Fire Department assisted with the scene along with Wellington Victim Services.
The investigation is continuing. No charges have been laid at this time.
