Series Of Suspicious Fires

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron OPP officers are investigating three separate fires that occurred during the night of March 23, 2012 and the early morning on March 24, 2012. A resident from Morrison Line in Huron East reported she returned home on March 23rd at approximately 8:45 p.m. to find a small fire underneath her deck. This fire was extinguished by the owner and no property damage was sustained. The fire started sometime between 8:00 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.

Later, on March 24th just after 2:00 a.m. Huron OPP officers and Huron East Fire Department personnel responded to a fire located at a residence on Toronto Boulevard in Huron East. The four residents were alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm and were able to escape the residence. Two of the residents sustained minor injuries.

The residence sustained heavy damage, a dollar value of the losses is not known at this point. Two males described as being younger, skinny, and wearing dark coloured clothing were seen running from the scene. The Ontario Fire Marshal and the Huron County Crime Unit is continuing to investigate this suspected arson.

Also on March 24, 2012 just after 7:00 a.m. Huron OPP officers and Huron East Fire Department personnel responded to a shed fire located on Victoria Boulevard in Huron East. The fire destroyed the small, wooden shed. The shed was empty at the time of the fire.
