(PERTH COUNTY, ON) On Wednesday July 25, 2012, at 11 a.m. the Perth County OPP is inviting interested media partners to attend the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville, to see the A.L.P.R. cruiser on display, followed by a demonstration of its use.
This cruiser, with its sophisticated licence plate scanning cameras and equipment, has been operating within Perth County for a week. It has assisted local OPP officers with identifying vehicles that should not be on the road.
The A.L.P.R. cruiser is able to instantly pinpoint vehicles that are reported stolen, or licence plates that are expired, reported missing, stolen or being used illegally. Specially trained Perth County OPP officers using this cruiser have been able to remove a number of vehicles and drivers from our roadways who should not have been there.
“This is a tremendous tool my officers can use to locate those motorists who are skirting the law and thereby placing the general public in harms wayâ€Â, Inspector Steve Porter Perth County OPP.
Local Perth County officers will continue to utilise this A.L.P.R. cruiser within the County on a regular basis thereby making our roads safer.
